Hankook Tire has announced that the company will be working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to incorporate more digital technologies like big data and artificial intelligence for manufacturing tires of the best quality. Recently, the tire manufacturer had developed a Virtual Compund Design (VCD) system which is used to predict the characteristics of different tire compounds and thus finalize the combination that can be used to produce tires that deliver optimal performance through artificial intelligence analysis. Hankook will be using the cloud platform of Amazon Web Services to store, process and analyze huge amounts of data like that gathered from the VCD system.
As an outcome of the collaboration with AWS, Hankook will be able to actively launch high-tech digital solutions like the machine learning platform “Amazon SageMaker”. The company will use Sagemaker, a service that provides developers and data scientists with the ability to build, train and deploy machine learning models for production of tires that have the capability to deliver the best performance.
Commenting on the partnership, Soo Il Lee, COO, Hankook Tire said, “As we continue to drive our technological strategy, collaborating with AWS will enable Hankook to further strengthen these efforts.
Lee added that the introduction of AWS to the company’s processes highlighted its commitment to innovation, further bringing technology to the core of its business as a leading global automotive company.
The company says it is securing future-oriented innovative technology by utilizing its global R&D network built around its high-tech facility, the Hankook Technodome.
