DRiV Motorparts, a division of Tenneco, is providing installers of its industry-leading portfolio of aftermarket parts with a digital helping hand via the introduction of unique QR codes on its product packaging. The addition of QR codes to the component boxes of some of the industry’s most well-respected enduring brands will enable installers to instantly access a wealth of helpful information when fitting a part. The content is designed to make installation as efficient and straightforward as possible, and to keep those working on vehicles up to date on the latest technical developments in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. Once installers scan the QR code with a smartphone, they are taken to a main menu where they can easily navigate to several tailored sub-sections, which span product specifications to fitting advice and warranty conditions to how to directly contact the manufacturer’s technical support center. To reach as many installers as possible, the menu and functions can be viewed in a choice of eight languages – English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Russian – with more functionalities and languages added in the future. Importantly, scanning the QR code confirms that the part is a genuine DRiV product, providing installers with the reassurance that they are fitting quality, safe, and extensively developed parts to a customer’s vehicle. Should the QR code reveal that a part is a counterfeit, the installers see a page where they are able to report the issue directly to the DRiV technical support center. An additional benefit for mechanics and motor technicians is the opportunity to enhance their skillset for free. The menu offers a link to the Garage Gurus Learning Management System which, after viewers create a free account, offers a host of technical courses, webinars and materials, all of which can be accessed 24/7. Initially, the QR codes will be included on Ferodo LV (Light Vehicle) pads and LV rotors, Jurid LV pads and LV rotors, Engine Expertise brands (Glyco, Nural, Goetze and AE). Monroe shock absorbers, MOOG parts and other DRiV brands and parts will be added in the following months. Massimiliano Milani, Executive Director Marketing, Sales and Commercial Operations, DRiV EMEA Motorparts, said: “Developing the QR codes and adding them to the packaging of thousands of parts represents a significant investment, but it’s a key part of our strategy to provide our customers and the installers who handle our products every day, the best possible experience of DRiV Motorpart’s brands and products. “With all the emerging technologies and developments that the automotive industry is experiencing, it’s never been more exciting to work in the sector, but at the same time we understand that the life of a motor technician is getting harder. By adding the QR codes to product packaging, we are supplying installers with comprehensive, invaluable information at a time when they need it most, plus giving them the chance to even further enhance their skillset.” Milani continued: “With all the benefits that scanning the QR code delivers and with it only taking mere seconds to do, it could be considered as essential to installers as having the right tools for the job. Ultimately, its addition is another illustration of how we strive to complement the very best parts with the very best service.”
