Chevrolet Middle East has announced that ekar, the first and largest carshare operator in the Middle East, has added 100 Chevrolet Spark vehicles to its fleet in the UAE.
Ekar was established back in 2016 with the goal of making the daily commute easier for its customers and provides motorists in the UAE and Saudi Arabia with the option of renting a vehicle on a per-minute, day, week or month basis through the company’s proprietary mobile app.
Commenting on this partnership, Luay Al Shurafa, Managing Director, Commercial Operations, General Motors, Africa and Middle East said that GM was very excited to see 100 Chevrolet Spark vehicles join the fleet of a carshare operator with such a modern, convenient and flexible service. He said that General Motors was continually striving to develop innovative solutions that would move the company closer to its global vision for a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion. He concluded by saying that the partnership with ekar made perfect sense as another step in this direction, as it allowed the company to leverage the advantages linked to car sharing and thus help to reduce unnecessary congestion.
Vilhelm Hedberg, Co-Founder and CEO, ekar, United Arab Emirates said that the company was launched with the simple vision of facilitating users’ commutes through a seamless platform that would make it possible for them to get around the city any time they want without facing the hassles of the lengthy process that a traditional car rental service requires.
Hedberg added, “We are thrilled to have the Chevrolet Spark, such a convenient practical and parking-friendly nameplate, join our fleet. This partnership with Chevrolet is helping us deliver on our mission to give users a better experience every day and we are confident the Chevrolet Spark will quickly become a very popular member of our fleet.”
ekar’s flexible booking structure makes it possible for motorists in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah to book the Chevrolet Spark through the ekar app and pay for only what they use on a per minute basis.
