The tradition of compact, two-door model series with exceptional driving dynamics goes back a long way at BMW. Even the 02 from the 60s and 70s was an unforgettable specimen that achieved legendary status, not least thanks to the different 2002 variants right up to the turbo. The BMW 2 series, which is also very popular and has been available in the new G42 generation since the start of 2022, can certainly be described as a spiritual descendant. And now, dAHLer Competition Line is rolling out the next set of upgrades for the M240i, which was the top model until the introduction of the new M2. Only a few months ago, Christoph Dähler’s team unveiled the first stage of the performance upgrade “powered by dAHLer” for the two-door car – just a few weeks after the market launch of the coupé. Now, to make the three-liter B58 inline six-cylinder engine even more powerful, the second stage is also available, which increases the power of the engine with turbocharger to an impressive 455 hp and 640 Nm. And so that customers can make the most of this boost, the maximum speed limit can be increased and the speedometer extended to 205 mph on request. In addition, dAHLer is also offering a stainless steel rear muffler “built by dAHLer” with a 100 mm opening as well as an Eventuri intake system. As is typical with dAHLer, all the components mentioned above come with an EU/CH homologation certificate and meet the WLTP standard Euro6d – not only individually, but also in combination. And for those who want to adjust the robust sound of the M240i at the touch of a button, there is a remote control for the CAN bus-controlled exhaust valve control system. dAHLer’s second cutting-edge innovation for the G42 are the brand-new CDC2 FORGED rims, which markedly reduce the unsprung mass and thus optimize the driving dynamics. In terms of style, they come across as a very powerful and expressive wheel with two superimposed double-spoke stars. It fits perfectly with the look of the striking, beefy new M models and, of course, the M240i as well. A special feature is that only every second pair of spokes reaches all the way to the outermost edge of the rim. The second star is set back a bit, which means that the spokes end a bit earlier. This provides a unique, individual look, especially in the optional front-polished “dAHLer edition”. As for the finish, any color of paint is possible on request – as is the case, of course, for the more classic CDC1, which is available as a cast wheel or in the FORGED version. Both rim designs also come in the same dimensions for the M240i: 9″x20″ and 10″x20″ with 255/30R20 and 275/30R20 tires. Generally speaking, when a new, large-format set of rims is fitted, the suspension is also optimized. dAHLer also offers the right solution here for the M240i: As an entry-level solution, sports springs “built by dAHLer” are available in two variants, which reduce the ground clearance by 25 or 35 millimeters. Alternatively, customers looking for more can opt for the complete sports suspension “built by dAHLer”, which is individually adjustable in height and optionally also in rebound and compression damping, thus elevating the driving dynamics to a whole new level. And to refine the look of the G42 even more, the range also features a front spoiler lip, which makes the rear appear even more dynamic. For the interior, there are also carbon appliqués for the center console as well as “dAHLer competition line” floor mats.
