Nissan launched its all-new Navara in the Middle East and the pickup is set to create new standards in its segment with its combination of advanced features, performance, toughness and styling. The company chose to hold the launch event in the rugged Pyrenees mountains near Barcelona in Spain to showcase the off-road abilities of the vehicle
The Navara has been named as the International Pick-up of the Year 2016 in Europe and builds on Nissan’s 80-year heritage in the pickup segment with over 14 million pickups being delivered across 170 countries through 12 generations. The model is the perfect vehicle for those who need a pickup for both professional and personal reasons.
Speaking at the launch event, Samir Cherfan, Nissan Middle East’s Managing Director said, “The all-new Nissan pick-up Navara concept merges the previous Navara modernity with the Nissan Pick-up’s toughness which has made it one of the best-selling pick-ups in the GCC over decades.” He added that the company expects its GCC sales to increase by 41% in the next three years in view of its segment leadership across so many areas.
According to Cherfan, the model is one that is designed for both work and play. Nissan has effectively used its expertise to come up with a pickup that is reliable and tough in addition to being stylish and comfortable.
Generally, the pickup segment has been slow on the uptake when it comes to incorporation of in-car technology, new features, comfort and safety. In-line with Nissan’s promise of “Innovation that Excites”, the new Navara has a wide range of exciting technological features while offering the lowest maintenance costs and unmatched fuel efficiency.
The most distinctive features of the new Navara are:
Toughness:
The all-new Nissan pick-up Navara is a segment leader when it comes to power and torque thanks to its 2.5 l engine (diesel and gasoline). It has an output of 168 Hp and 403Nm of torque (within 2.5 and 2.7 liter engines range).
Class Leading Transmission
The all-new Nissan pick-up Navara delivers a 7-speed automatic transmission. It is also the only Japanese pickup that offers a 6-speed manual transmission and hence is equally appealing to drivers who prefer automatic and manual transmissions.
It is ideal for off-road use with a four-wheel drive system that is fully capable of giving motorists plenty of traction over rough terrain. Drivers can use a rotary button on the dashboard to engage and disengage electronically. In order to optimize fuel usage, it is better to stay in 2WD mode while on the road, and to opt for the 4HI mode while going off-road.
Fully Boxed Frame
The all-new Nissan Navara comes with a full boxed frame that has higher levels of stiffness and durability. This is normally seen only in full-size trucks and increases the Navara’s payload to 1 ton. The key objective during the design process was to give the pick-up the comfort and driving experience of an SUV while retaining its off-road ability. The all-new rigid leaf suspension system which was devised for this model significantly enhances handling and ride comfort.
Striking Interior and Exterior Design
Distinctive exterior design elements include electric folding side mirrors, signature LED headlamps, side steps, roof rails and 16-inch alloy wheels. The roomy D/C 2.5M2 bed can accommodate possibly everything you might need to carry and makes the Navara a segment leader. The interiors too are remarkably luxurious with a leather steering wheel and a 5-inch central infotainment screen for a premium look and feel.
SUV-Like Technologies
Nissan has considerable expertise in the SUV segment and this expertise is reflected in the design of the pickup. The interiors are exceedingly modern and comfortable and include standard features like Bluetooth connectivity, a 5-inch color display with rear-view reverse camera, smart key entry with push button start, parking sensors, dual zone air-conditioning, and the incorporation of cruise control and audio switch controls on the steering wheel.
Segment Leader in Running cost
The all-new Nissan pick-up Navara is a segment leader in running costs due to its unmatched fuel efficiency and offers users the benefit of having a vehicle with the lowest maintenance costs for its class.
Unique Safety Features
As for any other model, the safety features play an important role in the purchase decision. The new Navara’s advanced safety features include traction control, ABS brakes and other features normally seen in SUVs like Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Assist and Limited Slip Differential (LSD).
The all-new pick-up Navara, is indeed the best in the pickup segment with its safety features, comfort, style and low running costs. It is available in both diesel and petrol versions in eight grades and depending on the variant, the price ranges from USD 18,232 to USD 27,967 in the GCC.
