“Smart” technology has come to the rental car industry in the GCC region with the launch of a new service by Instacar. Dubai is a city that has always been quick to adopt “smart technology” and hence it was indeed the right choice for the launch of this innovation in transport services. Instacar will now make it possible to get a rental car through a smartphone.
The launch of such a service is in line with vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai aimed at enabling the citizens and residents in the UAE to accomplish their transactions via smart phones and making Dubai the world’ smartest city. It also comes within the commitment to finding smart solutions for transport sector in the country and the region since most of the youth noticeably rely on smart phones.
The leading national Emirati company “Instacar” provides its services through ios and android platforms and later on will be available on the other platforms. Customers can use the mobile app to automatically unlock and lock the rental car as well as to communicate with the company.
Instacar currently has a fleet of 45 hatchback and sedan vehicles, and is set to shortly add other vehicle types to the fleet to meet the needs of all customers. Hourly rental rates can be as low as AED 19 per hour.
As part of their launch promotion in Dubai, Instacar is offering the first 100 subscribers gift vouchers in a bid to boost brand awareness.
Chief Operating Officer of Instacar, Manouj Kumar, said that with Dubai aspiring to become the smartest city ever in the world, Instacar will play its part in contributing the “smart” element to transport systems in the city. The smart services from Instacar is also expected to facilitate transport and help reduce traffic congestion.
Subscribing to Instacar is very easy and anyone with a valid driving license who is above 21 can easily submit the required documents online to sign up. Once the documents have been verified and the online registration has been completed, members receive the membership confirmation by email and SMS within 24 hours. Once they have become members they can use the smart app to rent cars with even payment being made online for greater convenience.
Users can avoid the hassles that come with car ownership like maintenance and repair costs and use cars only when needed. Instacar will have 25 outlets spread across Dubai and customers can access cars from the location that is nearest to them. The system of renting cars on an hourly basis minimizes financial strain and will differentiate Instacar from other car rental companies. One of the notable features of Instacar vehicles is that they are refueled through the VIP system available in EPPCO and ADNOC outlets. Motorists are warned when the fuel tank reaches the quarter mark and each vehicle has an RFID chip that uses radio waves to monitor the refueling process. Clients also need not fear breakdowns and emergencies as the company offers road assistance services around the clock.
Instacar is planning an expansion drive from the beginning of 2016 by opening branches in other emirates and opening more branches in Dubai.
