Infiniti recently launched its Q60 premium sports coupe which is notable its winning combination of a completely all-new design and exhilarating performance. The exterior of the coupe is characterized by taut, muscular lines and the performance is thanks to an advanced all-new 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine.
Infiniti used its inhouse expertise in development of six-cylinder powertrains to develop the high end 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which belongs to the new and exclusive ‘VR’ powertrain range. The engine which was first used to deliver 400hp in the Q60 Red Sport 400 has been revamped to deliver higher power and torque without compromising its efficiency.
A four-cylinder 2.0-liter variant of the engine, which with turbocharging has an output of 208 hp, is also available. The power produced by the engine is directed to the model’s rear wheels for a more dynamic response.
The characteristic features of the Q60 are its flowing sculptural lines and strong, muscular proportions. Its athletic stance lends the model a sense of motion and power.
The car’s dynamic stance is accentuated by the double-arch grille and the crescent-cut C-pillars. The LED headlights use ‘light guide technology’ for even distribution of light on the road ahead and are designed to mimic the shape of the human eye.
The Q60’s striking 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels come as a standard feature. The higher end ‘Red Sport 400’ models, which are the more performance-oriented variants have wider tires and wheels which lend the model a more aggressive stance in addition to improving its handling and grip and giving it greater tolerance to lateral G-forces. The wheel gaps or the spaces between tires and wheel arches are kept to a minimum thus lowering the car’s visual volume and giving it a low, powerful stance.
The Q60 highlights Infiniti’s focus on the development of new and innovative driving technologies to help drivers have a fun and confident driving experience that has been personalized based on their preferences.
The coupe sports the second-generation of Infiniti’s world-first Direct Adaptive Steering (DAS). This system is a sophisticated ‘steer-by-wire’ system that has been modified to enhance steering feel and feedback without affecting the comfort of the drive. The Q60 driver is free to choose from seven personalized modes and can customize steering performance based on their very own driving style.
An all-new electronic suspension system named the Dynamic Digital Suspension (DDS) has been developed to work in tandem with DAS. It monitors aspects like the vehicle’s body roll, pitch and bounce rate to increase the comfort factor for the driver and the passengers by minimizing unwanted steering feel and vibrations.
The Q60 comes with safety technologies that protect both the passengers and the pedestrians around the car. The model’s suite of driver assistive safety technologies make it possible for the car to monitor for and identify potential hazards, thus actively assisting the driver to avoid those hazards, and, even in the event that a collision occurs, these features help to mitigate its effects.
The Q60 sports coupe has a wide range of active and passive safety technologies which include collision avoidance and mitigation technologies like Back-up Collision Intervention and Forward Emergency Braking, technologies for hazard monitoring like Around View Monitor and Intelligent Cruise Control with Distance Control Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, Blind Spot Intervention System, Moving Object Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning. Driver-assist features include Active Lane Control and Adaptive Front Lighting System.
Initially, the Q60 will be available in 10 exterior colors, with two new shades named ‘Dynamic Sunstone Red’ and ‘Solar Mica’ being added to the Infiniti palette exclusively for this model. The 2.0T will have a basic price of AED 153,900, whilst the Red Sport 400 will be available from AED 235,000.
