Hyundai Motor reaped rich rewards at the 2018 Red Dot Awards with the Korean brand winning the honorary title of “Red Dot: Brand of the Year 2018”. Already in 2018, Hyundai had received five Communication Design accolades on the basis of its creative and innovative approach to design.
The Red Dot Award is one of the most well known design awards at the global level, with the iF awads and the IDEA design awards being the other well known awards. The “Red Dot: Brand of the Year” accolade is normally given to a brand that has produced innovative and creative design of a particularly high level. This year, the jury for the Red Dot awards gave Hyundai the award on the basis of its innovative design solutions, quality of design and expertise in brand management.
Commenting on the award, Wonhong Cho, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Hyundai Motor Company said that it was an honor for the company to be selected as the Red Dot: Brand of the Year 2018.He said that the award validated that the company is on the right track and that it would further reinforce Hyundai’s brand image. He concluded by saying that the award will encourage Hyundai to strive even harder in terms of design and will serve as a stepping stone for more creative and innovative projects in the future.
Hyundai will officially receive the award at a formal ceremony that will be held in Berlin, Germany on October 26.
Commenting on Hyundai’s achievement, professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award said that in a highly saturated market, Hyundai has succeeded in repeatedly catering to its customers in a creative manner. It has managed to convey the technical background of its cars in a manner that is universally comprehensible and adopted innovative design philosophies that are both creative and high-quality. The outcome is a unique, one-of-a-kind, 360-degree brand experience for customers.
Back in August this year, Hyundai Motor had set the all-time record for Red Dot Awards in the brand’s history, by winning four Red Dots and three “Red Dot: Best of the Best” awards. Hyundai won awards for its Solati Moving Hotel, Hyundai Pavilion, Genesis Gangnam, Genesis Sound Design, Pioneer Film and Safety Hologram in their respective categories, including Retail Design, Sound Design, Spatial Communication, Film & Animation and Interface & User Experience Design.
