The Bugatti Chron certainly was a winner. Now Bugatti has come up with a new variant of the popular supercar and given it a sporty look. The new Bugatti Chiron Sport is a lighter version of the 1,500-horsepower sports car that can take corners even faster and is smoother and easier to drive.
The first units of the Bugatti Chiron Sport will be delivered to customers at the end of this year. The model will have a base price of USD 3.26 million. The Chiron has definitely proved to be a profitable model for Bugatti and has generated revenues to the tune of at least USD 650 million in customer orders.
According to president of Bugatti Automobiles, Stephan Winkelmann, the Chiron Sport is noticeably more agile, especially when it comes to cornering and on roads with a lot of bends and on racing circuits is expected to provide drivers with a more emotional experience.
In the Chiron sport, Bugatti used new and lighter parts to reduce the weight of the model 40 pounds. This might not seem like a big figure, but it definitely makes a difference in the rarefied world of hypercars. For the Chiron sport, Bugatti has used lightweight wheels, a greater percentage of carbon fiber for the intercooler cover, windscreen wipers made of carbon fiber, lighter glass in the rear window and a lighter exhaust deflector. This is the first time that an automotive manufacturer has used windscreen wipers made from carbon fiber.
Other notable changes in the new Chiron Sport include a stiffer suspension, a few changes to the steering and a new function that distributes torque individually to the wheels on each side and thus improves the rear-axle differential. The torque function plays a key role in improving the flexibility and steering of the vehicle, especially in the case of tight curves.
Thus, all these factors contribute to make the new Bugatti Chiron Sport a more responsive model than the Chiron and one which can take corners faster. When testing the Chiron Sport on the Nardò test circuit in Italy, the lap time was five seconds less than that for the original Chiron model. The model even exhibited the capability to corner at speeds over 124 miles per hour.
Bugatti Chiron Sport owners have plenty to choose from when it comes to customizing their vehicle to give it a sporty look with a wide range of color and trim options. Bugatti unveiled the Chiron Sport at the 2018 International Geneva Motor Show.
