The Germany based automotive manufacturer, Borgward officially launched Middle East versions of its premier BX5 and BX7 SUV models at the 14th Dubai International Motor Show to mark its entry in the GCC market. The two models are notable for their advanced technology, outstanding performance, and Borgward’s characteristic flair for design.
The GCC market is known for the high demand for compact and mid-size SUVs, with sales of such models accounting for over 30 percent of total annual new car sales. The successful launch of the two SUV models highlights Borgward’s commitment to deliver superior comfort, unique experiences and dynamic performance to customers at a cost-effective price.
Commenting on the entry into the GCC market, Tom Anliker, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Borgward Group AG, said that the GCC market offers key growth prospects, and will play a key role in the company’s ongoing global strategy.
He added, “Customers in the Gulf states and throughout the Middle East have a taste for the kind of vehicles we build. In addition, all vehicles will be customized before their release to ensure that we meet the requirements of car buyers in this region. With our BX7 and BX5 models and a network of excellent car dealerships, we are very confident that we can build a solid customer base in the Middle East within the next few years.”
The classy and wide-body Borgward BX7 is 4.71 meters long and offers a high level of comfort. Depending on the preferences of the customers, it can be ordered as a 5-, or 7-seat version, both of which will have a spacious seating configuration and intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The BX7 is powered by a 2.0-liter direct injection turbo engine having an output of 224 hp/300 NM torque and it is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The BX5 is meant for Young, Energetic and Smart (Y.E.S.) drivers with its blend of distinctive German aesthetics and technologies that balance power, handling and intelligence. It is positioned as a model with a more youthful character than the BX7 and comes with Borgward’s signature wing-line design. It is powered by a 1.8-liter direct injection turbo engine (188 hp / 280 NM torque), and is notable for its low fuel consumption and emission. It has excellent noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) performance.
Both vehicles boast Borgward’s distinctive design language. The typical Borgward design comprises elements like elegant wing-line shapes, an Octagon grille and diamonds as a central theme. These features make every model identifiable as a Borgward at first glance. And all the vehicles have been designed to ensure maximum stability and optimum driving experiences for all GCC clients.
