Audi is planning to start the New Year with a showstopper. The company has revealed that it will be launching the Audi Q8 concept at the Detroit Show, or the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January 2017. The audi Q8 represents a model that has almost reached the production stage. It has all the stylish flair of a coupe is spacious enough to compete with an SUV. The launch of the Audi Q8 concept will mark the introduction of a new segment in the full-size vehicle category.
Speaking about the new vehicle, Audi Head of Design Marc Lichte said that with the Audi Q8 concept, the brand has created a new subcategory in the Q model range. The design of the vehicle is meant to evoke feelings of sportiness and prestige. Another distinctive feature of the car is that the interior is highly spacious. It has four comfortable seats though the roofline is flat.
When it ocmes to the exterior, the front end of the vehicle comprises an octagonal Singleframe which is significantly wider than that in Audi’s current production models. Three-dimensional sculpting has been used to position it well forward. Many aspects of the concept vehicle’s design are similar to those of the Audi Ur-quattro of the 1980s. These include the extremely flat but very wide C-post, and the noticeably flared shoulders above the wheels. As in typically quattro vehicle, these balanced proportions give equal emphasis to the front and rear wheels.
