Juma Al Majid Est., the exclusive distributor for Hyundai vehicles in the UAE emerged as a winner at the inaugural edition of the Arab Wheels Awards. The Korean company’s All-New Hyundai Sonata was judged to be the best midsized sedan in region at the grand event which was held as the H Hotel in Dubai last week. The inaugural program was established to recognize excellence in vehicle offering from the Middle East’s automotive industry.
Commenting on the award, Axel Dreyer, President, Juma Al Majid Est. expressed his delight at having the All-New Hyundai Sonata being chosen as the topper in the midsize sedan category in the region by automotive experts. He said the accolade highlights the high quality of the model which offers the perfect blend of value, technology, design and safety.
The seventh-generation 2015 Sonata uses the new Fluidic Sculpture design language to offer users a more refined look with a stiffer body structure, better ride quality, lower noise, minimal vibration and harshness and more innovative technological features. Advanced safety features like Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a Lane Departure Warning System which were previously available only in luxury models are available in the Sonata.
Motorists can now use the smart trunk feature for handsfree opening of the trunk making it easier to put away their shopping or baggage. The owner simply needs to keep the key fob in their purse or pocket and approach the Sonata’s trunk. A short wait of three seconds and the trunk will automatically open, making it super easy to put things away even if their hands are full.
Entries for the Arab Wheels awards were carefully scrutinized by an expert panel of judges drawn from automotive journalists across the region. In order to qualify, the vehicles had to be ‘all-new’ or ‘significantly face-lifted’ models that have been available on a retail basis for at least three months in the region. The general public also had a role to lay in determining the winners as for the awards, 50 per cent of the scoring was on the basis of the opinion of the members of the jury and the remaining 50 percent of the scoring was undertaken by readers’ choice via online voting.
