California-based Misfit, Inc. introduces the Misfit Specter—in-ear wireless headphones with built-in noise reduction and isolation technology. Combining its expertise in tracking and fitness tech, Misfit’s headphones are a natural extension of the technology into headphones. When integrated with the company’s fitness app— Misfit Link—the headphones can also track activity and sleep patterns, calories burned, steps taken, and the quality of your sleep in addition to a wide range of functions that can be customized through the app interface.
The Specter is a new entrant into a world of connected devices by Misfit, packing a punch with dual driver headphones, a rarity among in-ear devices. The dual driver setup is the product of collaboration with award-winning Chinese premier audio manufacturer 1MORE, delivering near studio-level sound while keeping the weight of the Specter headphones at a minimum. The headphones also feature a control unit that can be combined with the functionality of the Misfit Link to control other apps such as Spotify and even work with home automation devices such as the Philips Hue Lightstrip and Nest security systems. The integration of IFTTT capabilities gives the Misfit Specter limitless potential including control over personal or office productivity, home automation, communications, health and shopping apps. The simple clip-on control unit also houses a battery that gives the device an average of 9 hours of battery life is separate from the microphone and volume control unit. The versatile control unit and app also allow you to locate your phone and change slides while making a presentation at work.
The Misfit Specter is expected to be in stores in early 2016.
