Managing multiple medications can be a challenge for people who lead a busy urban lifestyle as well as for the aged or memory-impaired inpiduals. Countless labeled pill boxes filled with daily doses of medication or dependence on reminders can be debilitating, especially for those who take scheduled time-critical medicines where an overdose or a missed dose can have serious consequences. Even for those not dependent on medication, managing multiple vitamin pills or dietary supplements can get confusing.
Aptly named, the Hero Pill Dispenser is a compact medication dispensation unit that simplifies the task of managing your daily doses of tablets by dispensing the pills you need based on a programmable calendar. The device is designed with the familiar and comforting appearance of a coffee dispenser or water cooler and is bundled with a companion app that aids in the setup and scheduling of dispensation. The dispenser can be set up to alert you or loved ones when a particular pill is due to be taken and dispense it as needed. Hero is adaptable to multiple tablet or capsule shapes and sizes. In addition to scheduled alerts, the device’s interactive screen also features a password-based lock to protect children from accessing your medication. The device also has Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling you to download security and performance updates.
The device’s companion app is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones and offers several notification and dashboard features such as an alert when the device is unplugged from its wall socket from which it draws 100 to 240-volt power or is manually opened. The app also allows you to track the contents of each of the ten pill trays, ordering refills through Amazon when a tray is nearing empty, or being notified by a special alert or daily summary through the app dashboard when a loved one takes their scheduled medication. Hero can also be set up for multiple users without mixing up one user’s pills for another.
