In a novel partnership, Skechers has teamed up with Goodyear Tires to make running shoes that offer the best performance. Skechers, which is based in Manhattan Beach, California worked with Goodyear to rubber soles for sneakers called Goodyear Performance Outsoles from materials that are used to make Goodyear tires. Goodyear’s rubber technology was used for the manufacture of three pairs of running shoes. Skechers announced on February 26 that Skechers plans to use the Goodyear Performance Outsole feature in wider range of running and walking shoes.
Later in 2020, Skechers will also be expanding the use of the rubber soles to footwear for athletic lifestyle, trail, and work for men, women, and kids.
Christian Jurado, Goodyear’s global director of licensed products said that Goodyear has always worked to create innovative products that provide consumers with high-performance tires. Now the company is using the same ingenuity to make it possible for consumers to wear high-performance shoes. With this move, Goodyear is hoping to gain ground in the footwear market.
Skechers said that the custom Skechers outsoles made using Goodyear’s rubber technology are meant to deliver better grip, stability and durability.
Skechers President Michael Greenberg said in a statement said in a statement that the collaboration was an example of two trusted brands coming together to create a high-tech product that will be of great benefit to the consumer. The shoes have been conceptualized with the goal of providing long-lasting wear, outstanding grip on a wide range of surfaces and weather conditions and impressive traction for enhanced stability as in the case of all good tires.
The technology sourced from Goodyear involves the use of a special polymer including sustainable soybean oil. The substance is a renewable, bio-based material that Goodyear uses in some of its top-performing tires in the US and Canadian markets like the Assurance WeatherReady, Eagle Exhilarate, Eagle Enforcer All Weather and the Assurance ComfortDrive tires.
The technology was first used in three running shoes from the Skechers GOrun collection and will now include a wider assortment of running and walking sneakers.
Skechers has won several awards for its performance footwear. Recently, the GO RUN Razor 3 Hyper performance shoe was named as the editor’s choice for the best new running shoe in Runner’s World. With this new partnership, Skecher is all set to achieve even greater heights.
