Goodyear Tire has launched a complete tire management system for commercial fleets. The new system can significantly help reduce downtime and improve fleet operations. Goodyear Tire Management offers a complete solution customized for a fleet’s needs by combining Goodyear’s best-in-class tire monitoring, insights and service capabilities. The range of products and services frees companies to focus on their fleet management and business operations while Goodyear keeps tabs on their tires and provides them with actionable and insightful information to conduct tire service and checks where needed.
Commenting on the new tire management system, Johnny McIntosh, Goodyear’s director of integrated solutions and tire management said that businesses depend on reliable mobility in order to deliver goods and services properly to their customers. Hence, they have a lot riding on their tire investments. If tires are poorly managed, it can affect the overall tire life, fuel efficiency and vehicle uptime. This prompted Goodyear to introduce its tire management system as the tire manufacturer is committed to helping fleets achieve operational and financial efficiencies.
Currently, Goodyear Tire Management comprises four primary products:
Goodyear Tire Optix. This is a digital inspection toolset that has been developed to help fleets quickly and accurately detect data related to critical tire parameters like tire tread depth, tire pressure, and tire wear conditions. The system offers real-time alerts and detailed inspection results, thus helping fleets to optimize their long-term tire performance.
Goodyear CheckPoint. The Goodyear CheckPoint is a drive-over reader device that provides automated inspections of tire pressure and tread depth. It is an in-ground device that can be positioned at the entrance of a fleet yard to scan passing trucks. In the event that the device detects data that requires attentions, alerts are sent to fleet maintenance. This solution makes it possible for large numbers of vehicles to be inspected efficiently and offers a frequently updated snapshot of tire health.
Goodyear TPMS Plus. This is an on-vehicle, active monitoring system that monitors tire conditions in real-time using Goodyear’s unique, fleet-specific algorithms. TPMS Plus helps fleets to identify critical issues, like tire air leaks and high temperatures, while also providing predictive tire maintenance analytics to minimize the possibility of tire related roadside breakdowns.
Goodyear TireReady. Goodyear Tire Ready is a tire subscription program that can be customized to meet the specific needs of an individual fleet. Goodyear and its network of dealers will deal with the management and optimization of the entire lifecycle of a tire – ranging from new tire choices to retreads, monitoring, service, analytics and more. This comprehensive solution allows fleets to focus on their core business while Goodyear takes care of the tires.
McIntosh concluded that Goodyear Tire Management helps fleets to fully understand tire costs and performance. He said that fleets that implemented Goodyear Tire Management as part of the pilot project have enjoyed the benefits of reduced emergency service spend, increased tire life and improved retreadability.
