Tyrata has announced it has expanded its patented IntelliTread tire tread wear sensor platform. The platform will now include a low-profile drive-over system. The IntelliTread Drive-Over-System (DOS) is Tyrata’s patented sensor system that provides actionable data regarding tire tread wear. This data is obtained when a vehicle drives over a low-profile, speed bump-like unit. Tyrata developed the system to cater to the needs of fleet management, automotive service centers and truck depots for low-cost, real-time monitoring of tire tread wear both in the case of tires for commercial and passenger vehicles.
The sensors in Tyrata’s drive-over system are connected to cloud-based data analytics and service and depot managers will receive alerts through the system regarding the actual condition of their tire tread. Currently, Tyrata is implementing the IntelliTread Drive-Over-System in pilot evaluations.
Dr. Aaron Franklin, CTO at Tyrata said that the launch of the IntelliTread Drive-Over-System was consistent with his company’s objectives of enhancing tire safety and provision of unique value-added services for customers in the tire industry.
He added that the IntelliTread DOS delivers critical data points that can be used to extend the life of a tire, or keep tires that are worn out off the road to minimize tread-related tire failures through the use of advanced data extraction, handling, and analytics. Fleet customers no longer have to make any changes in their operations to get access to low cost tread monitoring.
The sensor system will add to Tyrata’s growing IntelliTread product portfolio which is meant to deliver fast, low-cost and highly scalable measurements of tire tread depth. The IntelliTread DOS is ideal for use in a wide range of consumer and commercial vehicle service centers. Customers can quickly evaluate the tire tread depth by driving a car, truck or bus over the system to get access to tire tread readings in real-time. Data obtained through these measurements can prompt proper tire service, reduce fuel consumption and enhance safety as customers can replace their worn tires in a timely manner.
