PCA Motors India, a subsidiary of Groupe PSA has announced that it has opened a new technical center in India. India Technical Centre (ITC) is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and is expected to play a key role in the group’s growth in the Indian market and to help its employees to work in a smoother and more efficient manner.
The new technical center is located in an area called Chennai One, which is a part of one of the Chennai Special Economic Zones (SEZ). It has been designed and built in a frugal and efficient way, that is consistent with the spirit of scalability that Groupe PSA has in India.
Commenting on the opening of the new center, Emmanuel Delay, Executive Vice President & Head of India-Pacific, Groupe PSA, said that the opening of the India Technical Center marks a significant step for the development of Groupe PSA in India, and will definitely serve as an asset to expedite the Group’s business in the India & Pacific region. The opening of the center is part of the company’s strategy to develop a global network of state-of-the-art technical centers to serve a customer-oriented agenda.
He said, “With the new center, we’re focusing our investment in creating a cohesive work environment to accelerate our growth. This unified approach will improve the speed, efficiency and effectiveness of our employees while enabling us to address evolving consumer needs more quickly in the future. Our investment in ITC further emphasizes the importance of India to our global business.”
The new facility will accommodate departments of Research & Development, Programs and Projects, Global Purchasing Hub, Supply Chain, Process and Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, KD Excellence Centre and Product. As part of further expansion, it would also house a workshop for styling, architecture and assembly of prototypes in the future.
Eric Apode, Senior Vice President, PCA Motors India, said that the center is the next strategic step for Groupe PSA in India and will serve as the hub to develop new products and to deploy the company’s strategy in and outside India. The locality where the center has been set up is in close proximity to dozens of international and Indian companies and will thus boost the company’s chances of attracting Indian talent.
He concluded, “The Monozukuri philosophy, the art of creating objects in an efficient and effective way is now taking shape with our new India Technical Centre, which will benefit group operations domestically and globally.”
