Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has announced its plan to become the first tire manufacturer to sell commercial tires online. The US tire company was the first manufacturer to sell consumer tires online and now this will extend to commercial tires also.
Goodyear announced its plans for the new e-commerce program at the recent 2019 Goodyear Customer Conference in Dallas. Currently, the plan is in the testing stage, and it will be officially launched in the third quarter of this year. Tires can be bought online through Goodyear’s commercial tire website, www.goodyeartrucktires.com.
Similar to the manner in which customers can buy consumer tires online, those who want tires for their commercial vehicles can select the right tires for their operations and opt for an installation date and time with a participating dealer. According to Goodyear, the program’s goal is to increase business and online competitiveness of Goodyear commercial tire dealers.
Dustin Lancy, marketing manager for commercial tires said that it is one of the company’s priorities to position Goodyear’s commercial dealers to connect with customers and capture new business. Thanks to Goodyear’s experience with consumer tires, the company is in a unique position to draw on its knowledge of e-commerce transactions and thus bring the first program for commercial tires on market.
Many dealers of Goodyear tires are excited about the scope for increase in business through the availability of the e-commerce option as they will be able to attract new customers who come to their facilities for installation and thus develop long-term relationships with them. This will help them to lower their operating costs.
The new e-commerce program is part of Goodyear’s Total Solution of products, services and fleet management tools in the United States, which is delivered by a nationwide network.
