Jaguar Land Rover used the CES event to unveil several products related to ultra-fast connectivity including a highly advanced Qualcomm SnapdragonM 820Am Automotive platform. Thanks to this platform, all models from Jaguar Land Rover vehicles will offer ultra-quick and efficient connectivity, limitless in-car entertainment and over-the-air downloads. Another benefit of this platform is the availability of immersive in-vehicle experiences with the aid of stunning displays and graphics. The automotive platform has been specially designed to increase vehicle intelligence and enhance safety on the road.
Commenting on the platform, Nick Rogers, Executive Director, Product Engineering for Jaguar Land Rover, said that the technology gives a preview of the high-tech models that Jaguar Land Rover will offer customers in the future, thus enhancing ride quality and comfort. He said that the new Snapdragon 820Am Automotive platform will play an integral role in bringing innovative technology to future cars, thus improving connectivity, safety and personalisation.”
Some of the partners that Jaguar Land Rover is collaborating with for next-generation Connected and Autonomous (CAV) technologies are the following.
Gentex Jaguar Land Rover ha steamed up with Gentex to work on the HomeLink Connect system into its InControl apps. This system will make it possible for drivers to control devices at home from the comfort of their vehicle using the infotainment screen. It has been used in the new Jaguar I-PACE, which is positioned as Jaguar’s first electric car, and customers can use the system to turn on their heating at home, turn on home lighting, unlock the front door. Another feature the two companies are collaborating on is the new Full Display Mirror, which will be seen in upcoming Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. The system uses video from a rear-facing camera and streams the feed to the LCD-integrated mirror, allowing drivers an unobstructed, panoramic view behind the vehicle.
Panasonic Panasonic is working with Jaguar Land Rover on its Touch Pro Duo system, which is an intelligent technology available in the new Range Rover Velar, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. It is billed as a digital butler and Panasonic has developed the screen technology to pair up with Jaguar Land Rover’s intuitive user interface.
CloudCar Jaguar Land Rover finalized a strategic partnership with CloudCar last year to work together on the next generation of CloudCar’s innovative cloud-based infotainment solution. This technology was showcased at CES in the latest Range Rover Velar. The futuristic infotainment system uses machine learning and natural language understanding to generate a completely customised experience for the driver.
LISNR LISNR, is one of Jaguar Land Rover’s start-up portfolio companies, which specializes in data security and showcased their data-over-audio solution at CES. This solution facilitates short-range, secure wireless data transmission across all connected devices. There is no need for any devic epairing or conventional connectivity as LISNR uses sound for data transfer. LISNR can be used in offline environments for a variety of functions such as remote app pairing, user authentication, and keyless access.
Quanergy Quanergy, which suppliers LiDAR and other sensors to Jaguar Land Rover, used CES to demonstrate their 3D Aware Smart Sensing technology. This technology will be highly useful for automated driving and will smoothen the transition to such technology with an instinctive human-like response to driving situations.
Mycroft AI Mycroft AI, another Jaguar Land Rover start-up portfolio company, will be showcasing the world’s first open source digital assistant. The smart software allows companies to deploy intelligent personal assistants anywhere.
