Bespoke Discovery Serves as Perfect Kitchen for Chef Jamie Oliver

Jaguar Land Rover teamed up with the renowned Chef and TV personality Jamie Oliver to create the ultimate kitchen on four wheels. The initiative serves to highlight the versatility of a Land Rover Discovery. The company’s Special vehicle Operations (SVO) team worked with Jamie Oliver, who is a lifelong Land Rover fan and customer to create a bespoke family SUV. The vehicle was modified such that it has a range of cooking features including a slow-cooker, barbecue, ice cream maker, olive oil dispenser and even a device to churn butter while it is on the move.

The vehicle is the only Discovery in the world that comes with a toaster in the centre console and a rotisserie that is driven by the power take off. Other really clever features include a slow-cooker that is located beside the engine, a pasta maker, a gas hob and a deployable dining table and worktop. The rear windows even accommodate a little herb garden and spice rack.

Commenting on the vehicle, Jamie Oliver said that he challenged Land Rover to come up with the ultimate kitchen on wheels. He never imagined that they would be able to put a slow-cooker next to the engine and an olive oil dispenser in the boot, but this is what the Land Rover team came up with and he was truly impressed by the result. He said that the Discovery they created is the perfect vehicle for him and his family and will allow them all to take their culinary adventures to the next level.

David Fairbairn, Head of Bespoke at SVO, said that it was great fun for the team to conceptualize wheels that churned butter and to bring Jamie’s ideas to life. The team rose to the challenge of bringing Jamie’s ideas to life.

He added, “Discovery helps our customers make every day an adventure, and this special vehicle will give Jamie and his family the chance to cook amazing meals anywhere they want to. The Bespoke team was created by SVO to enable us to really understand our most discerning clients’ needs, so we can tailor vehicles to suit their lifestyle.”

The seven-seater Discovery with up to 2,500 litres of luggage space and really clever storage spaces that a modern family needs while on the move proved to be the perfect vehicle for SVO to modify. It had plenty of room for a custom-made aluminium sink, a flat screen TV and a deployable kitchen worktop that also serves as a dining table. Other special touches include a spice drawer, a bespoke pestle and mortar and a Land Rover barbecue.
