Ssangyong Develops First Touch-Window System in the World

Ssangyong, which is owned by the Indian automaker, Mahindra, has announced that it has developed the world’s first touch-window system, which will make it possible for drivers and passengers to open and close a car’s windows just by touching them. Ssangyong has revealed that the technology will be available in production models before the end of this year.

A few further formalities like verification and market studies need to be completed before the technology is used in mass-production models. Nevertheless, it is quite likely that the technology will be showcased in a concept car that will be displayed at a motor show later on in 2017. This is one of the many the technologies that is under the company’s purview based on suggestions made by the company’s researchers and employees.

Speaking about the technology, Ssangyong boss Choi Jong-sik said that the company would continue to develop next-generation products that will meet the needs of its customers whilst simultaneously setting a new trend by encouraging creative ideas and innovative research.

Ssangyong might claim to be the first company to come up with this technology, but other companies have explored similar concepts, one of them being Jaguar.

Ssangyong has plans to launch three new models over the next three years, including an all-new Rexton large SUV, which will be positioned as a competitor to the Hyundai Santa Fe. It is also planning to launch electric variants of the models in its range by 2020 and is conducting tests of the electricTivoli.
