In a quest to meet the growing market demand for integrated electric drivetrain solutions for electric vehicles and electric machine propulsion solutions, UQM Technologies has teamed up with New Eagle, a leading vehicle integrator and supplier of electric and hybrid drive control system technologies and hardware for various vehicle classes and applications. The companies will work on projects using UQM’s PowerPhase Pro® electric propulsion systems, and New Eagle’s unique vehicle supervisory control software template and full system integration experience. Through this, customers will have a turn-key solution for their EV or HEV applications in multiple key markets.
For on-road vehicles, combining New Eagle’s vehicle control software and automated manual transmission with the UQM PowerPhase Pro 135 provides a feasible solution for cargo delivery as well as light- and medium-duty commercial passenger vehicles. Meanwhile, for marine applications, the combination of New Eagle’s marine hybrid drive system and the UQM PowerPhase Pro 135 helps reduce the operating and maintenance costs of commercial marine fleet vessels while minimizing emissions and operating noise.
In a statement, Rich Swortzel, President of New Eagle, said that working with UQM brings a higher ease of integration to the end customer, and UQM has an impressive record of successful performance at an extremely competitive price point. “We believe our electric commercial drivetrain customers will benefit from this combination.”
According to Joe Mitchell, UQM Technologies, President and CEO, their company has seen a growing need in the marketplace for integrated drivetrain solutions. He noted that after working with New Eagle on successful vehicle platforms worldwide, they see the partnership as a huge step towards offering end customers various integrated platforms by vehicle class that would lead to more commercial electric vehicles on the road.
