In response to the advent of laser-powered automotive front lighting systems, Melexis has enhanced its MLX75305 series of state-of-the-art light sensor ICs, integrating an output stage, trans-impedance amplifier and photodiode.
Unlike the devices out on the market, the MLX75305 series is fully AEC-Q100 qualified and supports an operational temperature range from -40°C up to +125°C. Housed in a compact SOIC8 package, this sensor ICs series offers engineers with an easy-to-implement, one chip solution for precisely monitoring headlamp output, requiring few external components and taking up little board space. The IC covers a spectral bandwidth of 500nm to 1000nm and maintains ±2% linearity across its whole output voltage range with a responsiveness of 70mV/(uW/cm 2).
Thanks to laser-powered front lighting, automakers are also able to enhance safety for road safety without affecting vehicle fuel efficiency. With the increased luminous flux, headlamps can also be reduced in size.
