Porsche has revealed plans to open a worldwide network of Porsche Classic Center. The first such center was opened on November 26 in Gelderland, just outside of Arnhem in the Netherlands. The centers will specialize in services for all kinds of classic cars including sales, service and workshop activities under one roof. The company has revealed that it will be opening a small network of such certified Porsche Classic Centers spread across the world in view of the fact that over 70 per cent of the Porsche vehicles produced so far are still in running condition and will need support and service facilities. The Gelderland Center will be the first of about 100 such centers that will be part of an international dealer and service network by 2018.
The network centers will not only provide support services for sports cars from earlier years but will also be able to cater to the requirements of the current models. The Porsche Classic Centers will stock over 52,000 original spare parts, and deal with repair and maintenance work as well as partial and complete overhaul of classic cars if needed. They will have a separate area devoted to classic cars with plenty of models and current spare parts on display in addition to technical literature and information.
Currently, Porsche has 24 Porsche Classic Partners around the world, of which 10 are in Germany with the others being located in perse countries such as Estonia, Japan and the UAE. The locations for new centers include the United States, Canada Belgium and Australia.
With the expansion of the network of Porsche Classic Partners, customers will easily have access to a local center where they can get easily get service and advice about their Porsche. Employees at these center will be required to complete special training which Porsche has developed specifically for this purpose. This will equip them to provide classic car customers with expert and detailed information on damage patterns typical for every type of vehicle, the appropriate precautionary measures and suitable repair options. The centers will also have special tools and model-specific repair instructions in order to ensure that all customers at the Classic Centers will receive a uniformly high standard of quality when it comes to service, in line with their expectations from Porsche.
