For the second straight year, Nissan Middle East in partnership with its exclusive distributor in Abu Dhabi, Al Masaood Automobiles will be supporting the 5K ‘The Color Run’ event presented by Daman’s ActiveLife.
Billed as the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”, the event will be held on Saturday, March 12th, at the Yas Marina Circuit. The Color Run is presented by Daman’s ActiveLife. It is essentially an untimed, five-kilometer fun run in which the most notable feature is that at the end of every kilometer, the participants are fully doused in colored powders of different shades. Then follows a large scale color festival in which runners get a chance to create countless color combinations with a variety of colored powders. According to the organizers say there are only two rules – that all participants wear white at the start line and end up crossing the finish line practically plastered in color.
As part of making the fun run in Abu Dhabi possible, Nissan will be providing the official vehicle of the event – and will use the event to highlight the company’s compact SUV, the Nissan Juke.
To complement The Color Run, Nissan will be launching a contest across all its social media platforms with the hashtag #SpotTheNissan. To gain entry into the contest, all members of the public have to do is take photos of any one of the three branded Nissan Jukes which are currently being driven around different parts of Abu Dhabi, and upload and share the images with the hashtag #SpotTheNissan. In the runup to the fun run, three participants will be chosen to get a Nissan Juke for the weekend, a GoPro Hero and a Jawbone UP3. A few free entry tickets for the race are also up for grabs.
As part of the sponsorship, on the day of The Color Run, Nissan will have a dedicated zone at the finish line complete with a digital photobooth where participants can get pictures taken after they have been covered with powders of various hues during the run. They can then proceed to share their pictures and enter photo contests on Nissan’s facebook page. The participant whose photo gets the highest number of likes will get an iPad Air tablet.
Fadi Ghosn, Chief Marketing Officer of Nissan Middle East, said that Nissan decided to renew its sponsorship for the event this year based on the great success of last year’s event. The sponsorship highlights Nissan’s belief that motoring is not just about getting from point A to B but also should be fun and exciting. The Color Run is also based on this spirit of fun and excitement and hence is the perfect complement to the Nissan Juke.
