Variohm EuroSensor’s VTP11 series rotary position sensor continues to impress for affordable throttle position sensing throughout motorsports. Its thoroughly proven resistive element technology, based on a conductive plastic track and multiple fingered wiper assembly, enables the durability to maintain full sensing contact even in the most arduous shock and vibration conditions as well as providing an operational life of 5 million cycles. The VTP11’s IP66 rated, fully sealed and encapsulated glass-filled PBT housing features simple 32.5 mm PCD flange mounting and combines with its 8 mm through-hole D-shaft drive to allow frontor rear-side installation for convenient CW/CCW measurement set-up.
Firmly aimed at throttle position sensing although suitable for other motorsports position measurement tasks such as steering angle, suspension, and gear selection, the VTP11 has a wide, 97⁰, measurement range and a generous 112⁰ mechanical rotation. Linearity is specified at +/- 1% and resistance value is 5 kΩ +/- 20% with a 5 … 24V DC supply voltage. Electrical connection is via 208 mm long insulated leadwires as standard with optional connectors on request. To withstand the arduous engine conditions in motorsports, the position sensor has a temperature rating of -25 to +125⁰ C with short term peaks to 150⁰ C for 15 mins. The VTP11 is a part Variohm EuroSensor’s comprehensive range of throttle position, steering angle, suspension, gearbox, and other position sensors widely use across motorsports. This includes resistive, analogue, and digital output sensors in a choice of contacting, non-contacting and contactless technologies in single turn and multi-turn designs. The UK- and European based designer, manufacturer, and distributor also supplies the motorsports and many other industries with a wide range of sensors and transducer technologies including linear position sensors, encoders, pressure sensors, load cells, temperature sensors, laser sensors and more.
