Maxxis is teaming up with electric car manufacturer e.GO to help develop tires for the German manufacturer’s future models. e.Go has disclosed that it is shortly planning to launch its model, the Life.
According to e.GO, the new model will more torque when compared to conventional internal combustion engine powered models and hence Maxxis will face a few very specific challenges when developing tires for this model. In order to develop tires for Life, Maxxis is currently re-engineering its Victra Sport 5 tire and the modifications made to the tire include a unique sidewall design that will help leverage the tire’s strength, performance and durability. Commenting on the OE fitment, Derek McMartin, managing director of Maxxis International UK, said that the company’s collaboration with e.GO will extend far beyond development of tires for ‘Life’. The two companies will be involved in a strategic partnership that will have them collaborating on development of technologies for the future.
eGo has invested heavily in the latest tools and techniques for highly advanced manufacturing, so McMartin feels confident that the partnership would be highly beneficial for both companies. He concluded that Maxxis has been experiencing tremendous change since it launched its new generation of tires and as a performance-focused brand is expecting more collaborations with European manufacturers in the near future. “And it’s great news for owners too, as they will be able to experience our own innovation straight out of the showroom, and we can’t wait for drivers to test these products out on the road for themselves.”
