Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has launched a new addition to its Starfire range of tires. Called all new Starfire Solarus AS, the Starfire Solarus AS is positioned as an all-season tire that can be used for both passenger cars and crossover vehicles. The tire is priced at a value price point.
The Starfire Solarus AS will serve as a replacement for both the Starfire SF340 and the Starfire RS-C 2.0. It incorporates an enhanced tread compound and tread profile which will give the tire all-season traction. The tire comes with deep, lateral shoulder grooves which allows the tire to provide motorists with impressive traction throughout its life. They also benefit from a smooth ride with controlled handling. The tire can be used during winter also thanks to sipes which are strategically placed to provide biting edges even in wet, dry and winter conditions.
Compared to its predecessors, the new Starfire Solarus AS reduces overlap in speed ratings within the Starfire line and offers more vehicle fitments.
Commenting on the new tire, Scott Jamieson, Cooper’s Director of Product Management said that while the product size offerings of the Starfire SF340 and RS-C 2.0 covered 65 percent of the market, the new tire comes in sizes which cover 81 percent of the passenger touring market. Cooper also offers an upgraded 50,000-mile warranty along with this tire.
The Starfire Solarus AS will be available in 52 popular sizes this year.
