Continental is all set to launch its range of new radial port tire portfolio at this year’s TOC Europe in Rotterdam. The new range has been developed specifically to meet the requirements for vehicles used in terminal operations. With the launch of this range of tires that have been specifically designed for load and carry applications in port operations, Continental has become a full solutions provider for port operations. The company will showcasing its complete port product range under the slogan ‘Every move you make’ at the TOC Europe trade fair which is scheduled to be held from June 18 – 20 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Containers are transported over a distance spanning many kilometers from one location to another on the extensive grounds of international ports on a daily basis. Radial tires are ideal for use in such demanding load and carry applications as they offer the advantages of low heat generation and a flat tread contour. They thus provide operators with a high level of endurance and mileage over long distances.
Continental Specialty Tires has launched three new radial tires for port applications – the ContiRT20 in 24” sizes, the ContainerMaster Radial and the StraddleMaster Radial. The three tires are perfectly suited for usage in various vehicle types that are used in load & carry applications, including heavy forklift trucks, empty container handlers, reach stackers, straddle carriers and terminal tractors, amongst others.
Other products that the company will be displaying at the TOC Europe show will include its V.ply tires with Port Plus Compound, which can be used for pick & stack applications in vehicles like reach stackers, empty container handlers and rubber tired gantry cranes (RTG) for loading and unloading containers around the container stack. Such vehicles need to drive short distances at low speed but still need very strong tires as they have a high load requirement and a high degree of turning on the spot. The V.ply construction can be used for such vehicles as they offer good stability and wear thanks to their strong sidewalls and their incorporation of highly abrasive and crack-resistant compound.
Due to this expansion of its range of tires for port applications, Continental now offers the most suitable tire for all required vehicle/application combinations irrespective of whether a tire is needed to perform pick & stack or load & carry tasks.
Continental will also be using the TOC Europe show to highlight its digital tire pressure monitoring systems for individual vehicles and ContiConnect system which enhances safety and efficiency in fleets.
