Continental Tire the Americas Inc., the US subsidiary of Continental Tire and BBS of America Inc. won the top honors in the tire and wheel categories for the development of new products, and won New Products Showcase awards at the 2015 edition of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, which is currently being held in Las Vegas.
Continental won the award for its Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 all-season performance tire which was judged as the best new product in the tires category. When it came to wheels and related products, BBS won the award for its BBS 2 PC Motorsport Tuner Wheel.
The awards are given on an annual basis to the products that are considered to be the most innovative and cutting-edge automotive aftermarket products scheduled to hit the retail market in 2016, SEMA said. The show received entries from almost 3,000 products for consideration in the 16 different Showcase categories. An expert panel of judges selected the winners based on numerous criteria like marketability, degree of innovation, quality, consumer appeal, technology etc.
The runners-up in the tires category were two BFGoodrich-brand tires from Michelin North America Inc. — the BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 / 34×10.50R17LT and BFG g-Force COMP-2 A/S / 235/50ZR18.
The runners-up in the wheels category were Bartec USA L.L.C.’s Tech400 Pro advanced TPMS scan tool and the Pro Comp / Smittybilt / Rubicon Express / G2 Axle & Gear / LRG Rims / Poison Spyder – Procomp 44 Series — Syndrome from ProComp USA. This product also was the winner in the Off-Road/4-Wheel Drive Product category.
