A global ranking that was released this month confirmed that Bridgestone has retained its position as the top tire company in the world for the 11th straight year. The recent 2019 edition of Tire Business’s report on Global Tire Company Rankings affirmed the tire manufacturer’s supremacy with statistics that indicated that the Japanese tire manufacturer had tire-related sales of USD 24.98 billion.
Commenting on the report, Mete Ekin, Regional Managing Director for Bridgestone Middle East & Africa said that Bridgestone prided itself on being not just a tire company, but also a leading mobility solutions provider. He said that the company expected to achieve double digit growth in overall sales volume in the Middle East and Africa region this year despite the challenges in the market, and expressed his confidence that the market offers more opportunities for growth.
“We take pride in our people, products and services, and our number one position is testament to Bridgestone’s rich legacy of excellence and innovation. This is also an apt time to thank our business partners and consumers for continuing to place their trust in the quality and reliability of our products and services”, said Ekin.
Tire Business compiles its annual list of global tire companies based on the revenue the tire manufacturers get from the sales of tires they manufacture. This means that the figures used will exclude income from third-party sales of steel cords, synthetic rubber or carbon black, as well as non-tire related items and services.
Bridgestone continues to be a market leader when it comes to premium tire brands in Middle East and Africa, and has maintained a presence in the region for over 50 years. Over the last few years, Bridgestone has evolved from being a premium tire producer to a leader in mobility solutions. The company has continually developed pioneering mobility solutions and applications to bring efficiency, convenience and peace of mind to drivers, fleet managers and owners by combining innovation, partnership and research.
