BKT Wins Port Tire Manufacturer of the Year Accolade

Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT), the India based leading manufacturer of off-road tires has been recognized by Terminal Operator as Port Tire Manufacturer of the year. The company received the award in recognition of the quality of its port and terminal cargo handling equipment at the Terminal Operator Excellence Awards 2016 which were held in Dubai.

Terminal Operator is an online and technical journal covering ports and container terminals. According to BKT, the award was given based on several stringent criteria like technological innovation, durability, product performance, sustainable manufacturing and ease of recycling.

The team from Terminal Operator visited the tire manufacturer’s greenfield facility in Bhuj, India, and rated the factory as one of the best in the world with a high level of process automation and strict adherence to process control.

BKT has supply agreements for delivery of port application tires to many of the major terminal operators in the Middle East region. The performance of the BKT tires was assessed as being among the best, both when it came to the cost per hour and the total service hours.

BKT has launched a new range of radial port tires comprising:

• Portmax PM 90 for reach stackers;
• Portmax PM 93 for straddle carriers; and
• Liftmax LM 81 for forklifts.

BKT is also shortly planning to launch its range of radial tires for terminal tractor applications.

BKT specializes in the manufacture of off-highway tires which are specially designed for a wide range of applications including the agricultural, industrial, earthmoving, mining, ATV and gardening segments.
