With the global population and demand for agricultural products increasing at exponential rates, farmers who use modern agricultural techniques need more advanced and powerful machines to increase the productivity of their farms.
Sophisticated agricultural machines call for the use of more advanced tires that are capable of supporting heavier loads, can withstand higher speeds, minimize the impact on soil and need minimal downtime for maintenance and repair. This is where agricultural tires made by ATG play a crucial role.
One of the company’s clients and owner of Azienda Agricola Stefanucci & C., which is located just a few miles away from Pisa in Italy said that what he basically needs tires that are the perfect counterpart to bigger agricultural machines, tires that can tolerate the strain of heavy soils and heavy tractors. He uses a John Deere 8400 that has been fitted with A365 AGRI-STAR (600/65R28 and 710/70R38) from July 2015. He explained that on his farm, the ground is really tough to tackle as the soil is loamy. Though they have been used for over a year, the A365 are still in the best possible condition. He had earlier experienced issues with tires from a premium brand due to sidewall ruptures, but has never had any after he started using AGRI-STAR.
The Alliance 365 tread pattern represents a range of modern radial agricultural tires which have a low aspect ratio. While the tire has an optimum number of elastic and asymmetric lugs for high level of self-cleaning, its large footprint provides stability and minimize soil compaction. “The strong carcass constructed with rigid belts ensure the long life of the tires in demanding agricultural jobs and cycle” said Emiliano Bertolini, ATG Field Engineer. He also added that the A365 tire is the only tire on the market that is steel belted in size 710/70R42.
The tire is designed specifically for high HP tractors and is available in a wide range of sizes for front and rear axle combination. Another happy owner is Federico Tirabasso, who happily attested that even after almost 500 hours work his tires have used less than 3 mm. His tires were mounted on a John Deere 6810, which was primarily used for seeding and ploughing.
Bertolini added that during independent endurance testing, it was proved that Alliance 365 tires have a much lower rate of wear when compared to other brands, with the average value being 125 hours per millimeter. He said that their proprietary 45 degree design with overlapping in the center provides the tires with a great grip, a smooth ride and stability on hard surfaces. Traction is highly important when it comes to High HP agricultural tractors. The tire’s tread design plays an instrumental role in giving the tractor high levels of traction. The A365 design is able to penetrate soil well and offers a large contact patch resulting in higher traction.
When it comes to driver comfort, tractors normally do not have a suspension system, and the A365 AGRI-STAR effectively doubles as suspension and provides users with a smooth ride while producing less noise than other competitors.
Alliance new generation radial tires range features also A372 AGRIFLEX and AGRIFLEX+.
“A372 AGRIFLEX is the object of desire for professionals looking for premium technology, the one tire that you want to see on your high power machines” comments Bertolini about Alliance top quality tire for tractors and combine harvesters. ATG is a leading brand for Improved Flexion and Very High Flexion technology. The A372 tire comprises stubble guard compound and is one of the few agricultural tires with a steel-belted carcass for superior puncture resistance and uniform ground pressure.
When compared to regular radial tires, AGRIFLEX IF has 20% more load carrying capacity, which increases further to 40% more if the machine is fitted with AGRIFLEX + VF. Together they can contribute to higher fuel efficiency, minimal soil compaction, higher road speeds – the three qualities that are most needed for agricultural machines.
According to Bertolini “There is a perfect Alliance radial for all applications”.
