The Sygic GPS Navigation app is available to download on Google Play within AAOS-powered vehicles. It brings the premium navigation experience known from mobile devices directly into the cockpit without ever having to reach for a mobile phone.
Android Automotive OS is an Android-based infotainment system built into vehicles. With AAOS, users install apps directly into the car, and a car’s infotainment system acts as a stand-alone Android™ device optimized for driving. After downloading the Sygic GPS Navigation app and the selected maps, it runs on the vehicle’s main screen. The easy-to-use interface and intuitive controls have been specifically tailored for driving. Thanks to its offline maps, Sygic GPS Navigation enables users to reliably reach their destination even when a data connection is interrupted or unavailable entirely.
In addition to the state-of-the-art navigation with detailed Voice guidance, Speed limit warnings, Lane assistant, and Predictive routing, which takes into account live traffic information, the Sygic app is also designed to become a one-stop shop for your essential needs on the road.
Extended features, such as Sign recognition, Dashcam, EV mode, and Real view navigation, will also be added as soon as the required APIs become available. Furthermore, the app will also provide detailed live data on parking, fueling, and even charging options.
EV mode will prove especially useful for the upcoming generation of electric AAOS cars. When activated, drivers will be able to effortlessly find charging points, check their availability, and plan trips with charging stops automatically calculated and added to the route.
“After a close collaboration with Google, we’re thrilled to bring our solution to those behind the wheel of Android Automotive OS vehicles. And not only because of its advanced navigation capabilities. We aim to improve the entire driving experience, including parking, fueling, and charging, so that you can find everything for a safe and comfortable drive within a single app,” noted Stefan Janciga, Vice President of Automotive at Sygic.
Sygic GPS Navigation is available to download on all Android Automotive with all Google Play built-in. The one-year Premium+ subscription is €49.99, including a worldwide license with a global map and traffic coverage, and all of the updates released during the subscription period. All drivers can try the app with a free 14-day trial.
