WABCO Holdings, the leader in technologies designed to enhance the efficiency, safety, and connectivity of commercial vehicles, has recently penned a new long-term deal with Cummins Inc. to produce and supply high-performance air-compressor technology worldwide. This contract expands the range of WABCO’s existing U.S.-based joint venture with Cummins, a premier global manufacturer and distributor of diesel engines and related technologies for commercial vehicles.
Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, WABCO Compressor Manufacturing is majority-owned by WABCO in collaboration with Cummins since 1998. Now, the company is the exclusive supplier to Cummins in North America for innovative air compressors which are applied in buses, trucks and industrial equipment. The new deal also considerably expands the volume and variety of demand for WABCO’s air-compression technologies at Cummins facilities in India, Europe and South America, with incremental opportunities for further growth anticipated in the Asian region.
According to Jon Morrison, WABCO President, Americas, alongside making further use of WABCO’s world-class engineering capabilities in the Americas and Europe, Cummins also steps up access to WABCO’s current and next generation of air-management technologies. He commented that Cummins diesel engines set industry standards for power, innovation and reliability and they are proud that WABCO’s technology leadership would help advance their new engine programs globally, specifically through high-output, energy-efficient air-compression performance.
Morrison continued that the contract reaffirms how successfully WABCO’s differentiated engineering, technical and production support connects with Cummins’ business needs worldwide. He concluded that they fully look forward contributing to the sustained success of Cummins as they continue to produce fuel efficient, dependable and durable engines for local applications worldwide.
