As summer is around the corner, temperatures are expected to rise to 50 degrees Celsius and cars need a great deal of protection from the hot weather to ensure that they run optimally and don’t end up with cracked upholstery. Automotive window films have come a long way in providing refuge from the heat amongst other great benefits that make it enjoyable for us to be out on the road. This is particularly true for those of us living in the Middle East, where sweltering temperatures during the summer months make the whole driving experience nothing short of an ordeal.
Window films are usually installed for one or two main reasons depending on the personal preferences and needs of the owner. However, there are many additional benefits of tinting that not many car owners have considered and which make it an all-round amazing idea no matter which way you look at it.
Here are the top six reasons to get your car tinted this summer:
1. Staying healthy
Direct sunlight and the associated UV rays do not only damage your skin and accelerate premature ageing, they can also cause skin cancer over a prolonged period of exposure. The sun’s ultraviolet radiation is associated with most cases of skin cancer. UV radiation reaches us in the form of shortwave UVB and long-wave UVA rays, but glass blocks only UVB effectively. Although car windshields are partially treated to filter out UVA, the side windows let in about 63 percent of the sun’s UVA radiation; rear windows are also unprotected, leaving back seat passengers exposed. There is, however, a solution. Transparent window films screen out almost 100 percent of UVB and UVA without reducing visibility, and is widely available. Reduce harmful UV rays by up to 90% by installing high quality window tints.
2. Safer driving
Driving with the sun directly in your face is not just an annoyance, it can be deadly. Car window films shield your eyes and prevent glare from all sources of extreme light that can cause disruptive driving and lead to serious risks on the road. Window films, when applied professionally, can reduce heat exposure and glare significantly, which not only ensures safer driving conditions but also protects you from the detrimental sunlight.
3. Keeping it cool
With the right window film to suit your requirements, you can reduce the heat inside your car in the scorching summer months by up to 60%. Keep the heat out and never worry about showing up anywhere drenched in sweat ever again.
4. Upholstery protection
The heat and UV rays from direct sunlight can turn your upholstery into a mess in a few short years, but did you know this is highly preventable? Window films keep your car interiors from getting hot enough to warp, fade or crack, and block up to 90% of harmful UV rays from entering your car’s interiors through the windows. This, in turn, adds years to your car’s lifespan without affecting its resale value.
5. Shatter-proofing
Window films help keep your car windows from shattering from the impact of an object or in the event of an accident. This can go a long way in protecting the health and lives of passengers if anything unexpected happens on the road.
6. Security and privacy
Darker window films (make sure they comply with UAE laws) can provide security for your belongings and privacy for your passengers as passersby will not be able to easily see you inside your car.
