Oerlikron is a company based in Essex, UK that specializes in the manufacture of niche automotive components. It has pioneered a Ceramic Terminal Coil Bracket that can transform the lives of those who own period cars. The new Ceramic Terminal Bracket can be used to solve a wide range of ignition connectivity issues and has a design which is compatible with most petrol internal combustion engines. This is just the first of many such products that Oerlikon has in the pipeline for car lovers as the company’s expert engineering team is working on several other promising innovations.
Commenting on the new product, Oerlikron founder and CEO Edward Barker said, “Oerlikron is aimed squarely at those who love their cars and want the best for them. We produce niche car parts that people want. Our output is period, both in its aesthetic and in the materials used in manufacture.”
The Ceramic Terminal Coil Bracket is designed to improve the connections and location of components in a vehicle’s ignition system. This is achieved through screw-in terminals which make it possible to mount condensers and ballast resistors and can serve as terminals for additional equipment like a rev counter powered off the ignition circuit. All the metal parts are made of corrosion resistant 304-grade stainless steel, while the terminal block is fashioned from steatite, a ceramic that is known for its resistance to ageing, stability at high temperatures, and strong mechanical strength.
Oerlikron not only specializes in such niche components but also provides a design consultation service for customers who need bespoke products. One example is a sports dashboard upgrade that the company designed for a late 1960s Saab.
