Nissan has announced that the new model of the brand’s electric vehicle, the LEAF will come with a revolutionary e-Pedal that will transform the way we drive.
All motorists need to do is flip a switch to transform their accelerator into an e-Pedal. They can use the e-Pedal to accelerate, decelerate and come to a complete stop. e-Pedal technology is the first such one-pedal operation in the world and can be used to bring the vehicle to a complete stop even on hills. I tis possible to instantly brake, stay in the same position and resume driving – all with just one pedal.
The e-Pedal can be used to cover 90 per cent of a motorist’s driving needs. Being stuck for hours in heavy traffic will no longer involve shifting constantly from brake to accelerator and thus driving will become a lot simpler and stress-free.
The e-Pedal technology represents another milestone in Nissan’s endeavour to bring accessible, advanced driver assistance technologies to the mainstream. The development of such technologies that are meant to make driving safer and more enjoyable is part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company’s strategy to transform the manner in which cars are driven, powered and integrated into society.
Nissan had established itself as a pioneer in electrification when it launched the LEAF, which is billed as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle. The Nissan LEAF is the best-selling electric vehicle in the world today and more than 277,000 units have been sold across the globe.
