With the successful completion of the thrilling Desert Storm rally, ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt Ltd has reconfirmed its collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd for their rallies held this year. This makes Mobil 1 the authorized lubricant partner of the premier rallying event. Currently, Maruti Suzuki holds three rallies across India, namely Desert Storm, Raid de Himalaya, and Dakshin Dare, with Desert Storm being the first to be held in the year.
This year’s Desert Storm was the 14th edition to date. It kicked off on April 3 and went on until April 10, spanning 2000km across Hanumanagarh, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Jaipur in Rajasthan, respectively. With more than 100 teams taking part this year, there are several classes within the rally, which varies from manufacturer hatchbacks to purpose-built 4×4 machines.
Held for seven days, Dakshin Dare is a 2000km rally starting at Bengaluru and ending in Goa, with teams going through Southern destinations such as Shimoga, Mysore, Hubli, and Chitradurga.
Raid de Himalaya is the highest rally stage in the world, beginning in Shimla, winding through Kaza, Keylong and Debring, culminating at Leh. Often, this rally is regarded as one of the toughest tests of man and machine in the country.
Rupinder Paintal, general manager, OEM business, ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt. Ltd, said that over the decades, Mobil has been committed to performance and leadership in technology, noting that it is this legacy as a product technology leader that enables them to work side-by-side with top OEMs worldwide. He added that tying up with Maruti Suzuki Motorsport—for three consecutive years—has been an affirmation of this shared commitment to excellence. “Extending the relationship for another season was a natural choice for both.”
