Minda iConnect, which is the connected vehicle and telematics division of the UNO Minda Group, and Microsoft India have announced that they will be forming a strategic alliance to work on connected vehicle technologies for the Indian automotive industry.
Microsoft will use its expertise to help UNO Minda to develop technologies that will lend artificial intelligence (AI), advanced machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to the Microsoft Azure cloud. Using these technologies can make driving smarter, safer and more personalized for motorists.
Speaking about the collaboration, Rajiv Sodhi, Cloud and Enterprise Lead, Microsoft India said that Minda iConnect is a pioneer when it comes to the development of connected vehicle technologies in India. He felt that Microsoft Azure cloud and Azure IOT services can help bring secure and faster connected experiences to vehicle drivers in the country.
Ravi Jakhodia, CEO Minda iConnect, said that the company was quite excited about the partnership as it could leverage Microsoft’s fast-paced innovation cycle to come up with a fully connected and seamless driving experience for the end users. This partnership will play a key role in Minda iConnect’s drive to connect millions of vehicles across both the passenger and commercial segments.
Both Microsoft and UNO Minda will join hands to identify the needs of customers and work with auto manufacturers to meet customer needs better through connected vehicle technologies. The scope of the collaboration covers both the passenger car and commercial vehicle segments and will relate to safety and security, convenience and ease of ownership and content and entertainment.
