Mahle Aftermarket Inc. is a leading manufacturer of performance engine components and launched a new brand for performance piston rings with MAHLE Performance rings. This is a new brand that marks a further step in Mahle’s strategy to offer all performance products in a specialized product category.
Earlier, MAHLE Performance rings were available through MAHLE Aftermarket Inc. They will now be offered in a new performance package, making it easier for MAHLE customers to stock and sell the range. There will be no change in the part numbers and the coverage of the parts will continue to expand.
Mahle is one of the largest manufacturers of piston rings in the world and has the capability to offer superior technology in products and materials at a competitive price. SAE9254 steel is used as the base material for most compression rings, and this material allows the application of HVOF coatings and PVD coatings depending on the purpose that the piston ring is to be used for. This also allows MAHLE to offer advanced designed second rings from this same steel.
Commenting on the new brand of performance piston rings, Jon Douglas, President of MAHLE Aftermarket North America said that MAHLE had the good fortune to have longstanding relationships with top racers and get their input to help develop this line. He added, “We work closely with our MAHLE plants on product advancements and just as closely with top racers and performance engine builders so they can take advantage of the products we make.“
Douglas went on to say that piston rings are a core MAHLE product globally and the shift in branding as an outcome of which ’MAHLE Performance piston ring’ is a component of the overall MAHLE Performance line of engine parts highlights the company’s commitment to the racing and performance industry.”
