Magna International Inc. is among those top companies that will steal the limelight at the CES 2016, with its “Moving People” exhibit that will present innovations aimed at tackling big industry challenges associated with connected driver safety and vehicle security.
Included in these technologies is a system combining Magna’s secure gateway with Argus Cyber Security’s software solution to bring an upbeat approach to improved vehicle cyber security. Unlike common solutions which only offer a firewall, the combined Magna/Argus system spots for suspicious and/or potentially malicious activity for early detection and prevention.
Moreover, Magna will display in-cabin imaging and head-up display technologies designed to boost driver safety and reduce distracted driving. The company’s solution employs a camera-based monitoring system, which spots the driver’s eye gaze and measures levels of distraction and drowsiness. An unobscured image from the rear camera is projected by the head-up display, utilizing eye gaze determination to determine when a driver looks up at the interior mirror to get a rearward view.
According to Swamy Kotagiri, Magna’s Chief Technology Officer, Magna continues to develop technologies aimed at creating a smarter and safer driving experience for end consumers. He added that the systems they would be exhibiting at CES represent leading-edge and cost-effective solutions that are indispensable for today’s vehicles and for the development of self-driving vehicles.
Magna’s booth at CES will be located in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s North Hall, booth #4327. The company will hold a driver-assistance system simulator and interactive vehicle secured connectivity for booth visitors during show hours.
