The Jaguar I-Pace won three awards at the recent Engine and Powertrains overcoming fierce competition from brands like Tesla. The awards were given at the Engine Expo + The Powertrain Technology Show in Stuttgart, and the jury for the award included a panel of 70 automotive journalists from 31 countries. They judged each model on the basis of performance, efficiency and refinement to pick the winners in each category.
The Jaguar I-Pace won the award for the Best Electric Powertrain, the best engine in the 350PS to 450PS category and for the Best New Engine, though technically, it does not have an engine.
In the Best Electric Powertrain category, the I-Pace faced stiff competition from the Tesla full-electric powertrain with the I-Pace scoring 367 to Tesla’s 363. The BMW powertrain came third followed by Hyundai, Nissan and finally General Motors.
With these awards, Jaguar, a brand that is known for performance has proved that it has successfully made the transition to electric. It can convince even the sceptics that electric vehicles can be fun to drive.
