IC Bus has recently demonstrated the Gasoline-Powered CE School Bus at the School Transportation News (STN) Expo Conference and Trade Show in Reno. The bus aims to make ownership more affordable and to give easier maintenance for school districts and contractors, and will use the purpose-built Power Solutions International’s (PSI) modern and powerful 8.8L V8 gasoline engine paired with commercial grade transmissions.
In a statement, Trish Reed, vice president and general manager, IC Bus, said that this product is another example of their commitment to bringing cutting-edge and affordable solutions to the school bus market. She added that they have listened to their dealers and customers and they are asking for powertrain options that can deliver the same safety, reliability and durability as with their entire product line-up.
The all new CE gas-powered school bus uses much of the same proven technology and engine architecture as the propane autogas-powered bus. Reed continued that they are pleased to showcase the bus at STN Expo and anticipate announcing full scale production at a later date.
At the show, participants enjoyed test driving the gas-powered Type C bus.
