Just recently, Hitachi Automotive Systems has announced that it is setting up a new Information & Safety Systems pision, which will become effective in April 1. The company’s move is geared towards reinforcing its business in autonomous driving systems and other advanced safety driving systems, for which the market is expected to expand going forward.
The new pision will be Hitachi’s fifth, joining the existing Engine Components, Powertrain & Electronic Control Systems, Aftermarket and Drive Control Systems pisions. The expansion of the business will be pursued by manufacturing advanced safety driving systems based on the groundbreaking products of existing pisions and Hitachi Group technologies as well as through promoting the active proposal and sales of these products to automotive manufacturers.
As the world moves toward the commercialization of automated driving and connected cars, the key technologies for next-generation vehicles are anticipated to advance from the ADAS to automated driving and autonomous driving systems. Due to these trends, the development and commercialization of information-driven, state-of-the-art technologies for advanced safety driving systems has become a critical part of medium to long-term business strategies.
Through the newly set up Information & Safety Systems pision, Hitachi Automotive Systems will employ its strength in electric drive products and incorporated control technology through software and controllers. The company will also reportedly meld these technologies with information and communication systems and other technologies that belong to Hitachi, Clarion and other members of the Hitachi Group. This will enable Hitachi Automotive Systems to establish competitive dominance in the advanced safety driving systems business and stay ahead of its rivals.
According to Hitachi, the structure of the Information & Safety Systems pision will surpass a Global Business Planning Department, whose responsibilities will consist of business strategy formulation and presentation of solutions developed by systems engineers and other departments that include a Development & Design pision and System Quality Assurance Department. The pision is projected to have an initial staff strength of nearly 200, which will be expanded as required.
Through business development focused on the new Information & Safety Systems pision, Hitachi Automotive Systems will aim further growth while tackling issues of traffic congestion relief, traffic accident reduction, and mobility support for elderly people. It is through these efforts that Hitachi Automotive Systems is committed to constantly delivering new value toward the realization of an automobile society providing improved levels of reassurance and safety.
