Magna has reached yet another milestone after being chosen by FCA to supply its all-new Eyeris Generation 3.0 camera system for the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the first FCA US vehicle to have the camera technology and for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.
The revolutionary system builds on technology features from earlier platforms on the market, but boasts enhanced field of view and camera solution. As part of a fusion system with radar located in front of the Jeep, the Eyeris performs functions related to the vehicle’s adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beam and lane keeping features.
In a statement, Magna CTO and president Magna Electronics, Swamy Kotagri, said that joining hands with FCA US on higher-demand vehicles such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler Pacifica showcases their leadership position in the automotive vision system technology market.
For over 25 years, Magna has been developing advanced camera systems for carmakers. So far, the supplier has 305 manufacturing operations, as well as 93 product development, engineering and sales centers in 29 countries.
