Continental AG received the CES 2019 Innovation Award for its intelligent door system in the Vehicle Intelligence and Self-Driving Technology category. The organizer of the Consumer Electronics Show, CTA (Consumer Technology Association) made the announcement regarding the winners of the awards during its annual CES Unveiled New York event.
The CES Unveiled New York event is an invitation-only tech event that offers invitees a sneak peek of the products and trends which can be expected to be in the limelight at the upcoming CES 2019 show. The show is slated to be held from January 8 to 11. The CES Innovation award recognizes products and technologies which make an important contribution to safe and convenient mobility.
Continental said that its state-of-the-art technologies like the intelligent door brake system and the smart autonomous door support made it highly convenient to open and close vehicle doors while preventing uncontrolled slamming which can cause damage to the doors. Continental’s intelligent vehicle door solutions can significantly optimize the link between safety and convenience.
Continental also said in the case of autonomous vehicles, the smart autonomous door system is a necessary function as driverless vehicles should be capable of opening and closing their doors even without in the absence of operators or door handles so that they can tackle all kinds of situations easily and passengers can get in and out conveniently.
Johann Hiebl, Head of Continental Body & Security Business Unit, said that the CES Innovation Award served as a confirmation as well as an incentive for the company’s team of developers. He added that the company was keen to promote convenience and safety for motorists and all other road users.
