Continental, which is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automotive aftermarket products has recommended that professional technicians replace under-hood belts with all-inclusive kit products rather than using inpidual components, especially before the advent of winter.
According to Tom Lee, Continental’s marketing manager for North American automotive aftermarket products, with schools set to reopen soon, motorists will be using their vehicles to a greater extent for school runs and after-school activities.
Motorists should consider this as the perfect time to prepare their vehicles for the increase in miles and wear and tear. This is why the company is recommending that professional repair technicians replace all accessory drive components at the same time with a single kit instead of replacing inpidual components one by one. This will minimize premature and uneven wear of the serpentine belt from, and reduce the chance for loss of tension or belt slippage on any of the system’s components.
As part of its product range, Continental offers Elite belts, tensioners and idlers in the Elite Poly-V kits. Technicians can use these kits to provide their customers with value-added services so that their vehicles are safer on the roads.
Lee added, “The operative suggestion is to not replace one single component, but replace them all to ensure continuous and optimum engine operation.”
Technicians will also get the added incentive of earning double points when they order the kits from the months of September to November. The kits are also now eligible for redemption in the Elite RPM Club.
