For over 20 years, Continental has constantly contributed to Ward’s 10 Best Engines, and this year is no different. Seven of the engines that bagged an award are fitted with Continental powertrain technologies, indicating its leadership in engine technology and drivetrain innovation. Among the engines that the German manufacturer contributed to are an extended range electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid.
Commenting on the significance of suppliers and their technologies in engine development, Drew Winter, Director, Content at WardsAuto, said that it takes a village to raise a child and it takes a community of smart, dedicated suppliers to create a great engine.
The Ward’s 10 Best Engines set the standard in terms of torque, horsepower, noise attenuation, fuel economy, comparative specs, and the application of new technology. Eight editors of WardsAuto assess the nominated vehicles in their routine daily commutes around metro Detroit. This year, the panel received a total of 31 entries consisting of new or greatly enhanced engines.
According to Kregg Wiggins senior vice president, Powertrain pision, North America, this prestigious acknowledgement is a significant indicator of what customers are searching for in their vehicles. Continental remains committed to the development of state-of-the-art technologies designed to help deliver the most fuel efficient, safe and fun-to-drive vehicles. “Congratulations to this year’s award winners, especially to our customers that made the list. We are proud to partner with you.”
